Avery Ford is one of the premier defensive catchers in the Class of 2027 and has established herself as a proven leader behind the plate. A three-year varsity starter, Avery has earned First Team All-County honors in both 2025 and 2026 after receiving First Team All-County recognition from The Capital Gazette in 2026, showcasing her consistency and continued development throughout her high school career.
Defensively, Avery is an elite receiver with advanced softball IQ, outstanding blocking ability, and exceptional game management skills. She consistently controls the running game with a 1.70 pop time and 63 mph arm velocity, making her a dependable presence behind the plate and a trusted leader for her pitching staff.
Offensively, Avery is a disciplined contact hitter who understands situational softball and consistently produces quality at-bats. She posts a 67 mph exit velocity while showing the ability to drive the ball with authority to the pull-side gap. During her junior season, Avery compiled an impressive .463 batting average, .537 on-base percentage, and .610 slugging percentage, proving her ability to impact games both at the plate and on the bases.
A well-rounded catcher and utility player with high-level defensive skills, strong offensive production, and outstanding leadership qualities, Avery Ford is a competitor who will be an asset to any collegiate softball program.
